Show Up, Be Thorough

Show up, be thorough.  Repeat.  You’ll be successful at anything you do following this simple formula.

Discipline

Without discipline we have no grip on life. Discipline provides us the grip to take and mold life. Otherwise life just comes at us and we can only react.

Stay On Track

We start the new year with lots of ideas, goals and changes. But somewhere in the year we get off track. And that getting off track only takes one day. So you just need to stay on track the next day. Stay on track!!

Self Discipline

If you can discipline yourself, you can do anything. Mastering ourself if the hardest thing to master. Taking on and mastering ourself is the biggest challenge and biggest victory. Challenge yourself to be self disciplined!

De-escalate

In conflict resolution the best approach is to de-escalate. Always try and turn the temperature down. Don’t match the temperature of the aggravated party, lower it. This is WAY harder to do in practice though. It takes a level of self discipline that is learned through much, much practice.

For Public Spectacle

Before to get in the public eye you had to work hard. You had to be a major actor to be on a big stage, or on the big screen. To be a major author you had to work hard to get published. The odds used to be low that you would be noticed. They're a lot higher today, and so many people are trying to get noticed above all else. This makes for great opportunity for those who do real quality work to separate themselves from the pack. It may not seem to make sense, but the more people you have vying...

Self Discipline and Technology

Technology is providing anonymity that never used to be there. Just peruse any comment section on your favourite news site, or if you dare, YouTube. The comments are something else to behold. Many of them are only said because of the anonymity. Many comments are filled with hate, vitriol and vulgarity. Access to harmful imagery, video and information is nothing more than a seconds reach away. And can all be done completely incognito. This "cover" of anonymity requires a greater level of self discipline than we have ever seen. It used to be you would physically have to achieve anonymity to do something that may be deemed wrong or dubious. Now all you need to do is go online. Going online is much much easier and convenient than trying to cover our actions out in public. Self discipline is more critical than ever in our history. There's probably many more, but one great general rule for online conduct is: Don't say or do anything you wouldn't say or do i...
