People Pleasers
For the most part, we all want to please other people. Or in other words, we want to be liked.
Those who really people please to the extreme end up displeasing themselves. They become something other than themselves.
Those who don’t people please end up being only themselves, with no input and positive benefit of pleasing others.
The ends of both are similar in that both end up isolating the individual in some capacity.
The people pleaser becomes a puppet and is isolated from reality.
The self pleaser becomes an island and is isolated from others.
To be well socialized means to have good balance between the two. Other people like you, and you develop yourself. There’s times you have to deny other people what they want, and there’s times you have to deny yourself of what you want.
