How do you fend off critisicsm? By action, not by words.
Have you been told you cannot do it, or you're doing it wrong? You owe your critics no explanation or defense. Simply, do what you are doing and let the results speak for you. Results are a better spokesperson than an actual spokesperson defending or stirring up some "hype" for you.
We have all heard the saying, "actions speak louder than words". When under criticism for doing something, actions are much better than words.
Smile and continue building it.
