Use Your Voice

No, not everyone's "voice" is their real natural voice. Some peoples voice is poetry, for others it is some form of an action and for others it's singing, art or a multitude of things.

The fact is, everyone has a voice and something to contribute.

The saddest and most harmful thing is when someone has a voice, but doesn't use it.

There is something called "the bystander effect".  Here is an explanation taken from Wikipedia.

"The bystander effect, or bystander apathy, is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not offer any means of help to a victim when other people are present. The probability of help is inversely related to the number of bystanders."

When people cease to use their voices, it ultimately hurts other people. And the thing is, you will never fully know who you have hurt or let down. Not using your voice has consequences that cannot be quantified because they will never be known. You will only know who you have helped when you use your voice.

The bystander effect is likely something that will never change on a wholesale level unfortunately. However, we can push back against this horrible effect, one by one. The amount of people who can stand by and watch something hurt/die/break is astounding.

Use your voice, in the way only you can. You have something unique to contribute and you likely know what that is, because you're passionate about it already, regardless of how little time and effort you are currently putting into your passion.

Your opinion counts. You don't have to be opinionated, but your opinion matters. You have a unique perspective that only one person in the world has. The rest of the puzzle needs you to contribute your piece in order to fill in the picture.

Don't stand back at arms length and allow situations, people and life to continue around you without making your mark. Speak up. Say something. Do something.

No one should be a bystander. Bystanders are the problem, not the "victim" we see in the Wikipedia example above.
