If you can identify your biases, then you can at least look at things from a clearer (still biased though) lens.

It is uncomfortable to be made aware of ones biases. Often our biases subconsciously inform how we interact with and treat other people/ideas. For example, if we feel that a person is given to particular behaviour, we tend to interpret their behaviour according to our bias, which in turn reinforces our bias. I think the solution lies in approaching every person/idea/situation as a clean slate. Once you acknowledge a bias, it's easier to think outside of it.
